Animal Planet is yet another educational channel with documentaries as its basic format of programming. As the name of the channel indicates, it is dedicated to the documentation and research on the animal kingdom, their nature, surroundings, habitat, and much more.
This channel was also a venture of Warner Bros, Discovery. Initially, the programs about the animal kingdom were available on the Discovery Channel, but due to high demand and good viewer response, the media company decided to start a separate channel for it. Therefore, in 1996, also from the same headquarters in Maryland as that of Discovery, Animal Planet was started.
